Is Education at a Private School Better?

First let's tackle the obvious when it comes to the difference between a public education and a private education.

A public education is funded by state and federal allowances which basically means that whatever the state and federal government decides will be offered is what is going to be offered and that is typically just sticking to the basics. A private school however, is funded by private individuals, thus allowing the school to adhere to what the state and federal government require but also allowing them to expand in other areas and use personalized lesson plans among other things.

Students attending a private school would have to go through a process of acceptance to be included into the private school, therefore, most private school students are more academically centered as a whole group, than are the students of a public school. Smaller classes make it easier for teachers to develop individualized lesson plans for each student as well as the lack of disruptive behavior from socializing helps in the progress of private school students. At the same time, because private schools are looking for the same type of students to attend, social diversity can be a problem.

Although some research shows that private schools have a much more superior academic program, some can be narrow in what they are teaching. Just as of late, public schools have been rising up to meet the challenge and new studies show that attending public schools can give a student a broader, better-rounded education.
